Biography

Roberta is studying the active faults and past earthquakes close to the large population centres of Almaty (Kazakhstan) and Dushanbe (Tajikistan). Her work combines forensic palaeosesimic investigation with InSAR measurements of strain accumulation. She is co-supervised by Simon Daout, Austin Elliott (USGS), Christoph Gruetzner (Jena) and Barry Parsons. Her research focuses on the active tectonics of Central Asia, using a combination of remote sensing techniques (including InSAR and analysis of optical satellite imagery), field studies and paleoseismology.
